Creative Director + Head of Brand & Marketing, Based in Manhattan

Patrick Thornton is a creative leader who works at the intersection of human behavior, brand strategy, and business growth. He comes into organizations at inflection points — launches, repositions, transformations — and builds the creative vision, partnership infrastructure, and operational momentum to move them forward.

His background spans advertising, global manufacturing, consumer culture, and entrepreneurship. Across every role, the through-line has been the same: understand how people think, what they respond to, and what they'll actually buy — then build the brand around that truth. He has scaled businesses past $430M, created cultural environments for Nike, Chanel, Goop, Google, and Uber, and built partnerships and experiences that have generated real revenue and lasting brand equity.

Patrick works closely with founders and leadership teams — not as a vendor, but as a creative partner who can hold the vision and the business model in the same conversation. He leads teams, directs creative, and executes against strategy with equal fluency.

He is the founder of CitrusMelon, a New York-based creative studio and venture incubator, and sits on the board of Born and Raised, a nationally operating youth nonprofit.

Sometimes that means helping a product get off the ground. Sometimes it’s stepping into something that isn’t working and reshaping it. Sometimes it’s helping leadership see what’s possible—making things clear through direction, structure, and a strong point of view.

My background sits at the intersection of brand, product, and go-to-market, across both B2B and B2C. I’ve led work across creative direction, brand strategy, product development, and marketing operations—but more importantly, I’ve spent a lot of time connecting those pieces. Aligning leadership, sales, product, and teams so the work isn’t fragmented, and actually moves as one system.

I tend to think from the top down—starting with financial goals and working backwards into products, pathways to purchase, and the systems needed to support them. Everything is grounded in research and strategy, but driven by a real interest in how people engage—how they process information, what makes something click, and what actually moves them to act.

Technology has always been part of how I work. I grew up around it early, and today I use it as leverage. I’m hands-on—I design, build, and create—but I also know how to use the right tools, systems, and AI to scale that output. I don’t see technology as a replacement for people. I see it as a multiplier.

At my core, I operate as a conductor—bringing together people, tools, and ideas, and making sure they move in the same direction.

At scale, I’ve helped support and grow a business exceeding $800M in annual revenue, working across global teams of 75+ people. Through all of it, the focus has stayed the same: clear goals, strong creative direction, and the ability to turn both into coordinated, measurable outcomes.

I think at a high level, but I’m built to operate on the ground—doing the work, pushing it forward, and making sure it actually lands.
